Government Degree College Rakkar, District Kangra, Himachal Pradesh
Rakkar is a place situated in the Shivalik Hills of the outer Himalayas. It is a Tehsil headquarters of the Dehra subdivision of Kangra District. It is twenty kilometers away from the famous Jwalamukhi temple and 10 kilometers from Shri Kalinath Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple on the Nadaun-Chandigarh National Highway.
This institution was established with the intention to render educational facilities to the rural poor and announce it as a gift to the natives in its vicinity by notifying it vide number EDN-A-Kha (1)-1/2015 dated March 26, 2016. It initiated its maiden session with effect from 2016–17. It remained in operation in the building of Senior Secondary School Rakkar until it shifted to its ravishing and verdant campus located in the lap of nature and spread over an area of about 80 kanals in the current session of 2023–24.
It has thoughtful and mindful engineering skills as it has very sprawling Lecture Theatres, Music rooms, Labs, an open air theatre for cultural activities, an Examination hall, and sufficient land for future expansion. The college is affiliated with Himachal Pradesh University, Summer Hill, Shimla-5 (NAAC-accredited ‘A’ grade). It has been rendering undergraduate courses in humanities and commerce since its inception.
